Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Marvin Herman “Grandpa” Vader, 83, of New Berlin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2011.

Marvin was born on March 21, 1928, in Cibolo to Alfred and Lena Zunker Vader. He was a 50-year member of the Bluebonnet Masonic Lodge No. 1219 A.F. & A.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Melvin Vader; and his sister, Dorothy Bading.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy Warncke Vader; his sons, Gary and wife Darnell and Keith and wife Norma; his sister, Vernell Crosnoe; his grandchildren, Judy, William, and Colton; and one niece, numerous nephews, and many friends.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 10, from noon to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. in the Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek in Seguin with Pastor Anne Kolmeier officiating.

A graveside service and interment under the auspices of the Bluebonnet Masonic Lodge No. 1219 A.F. & A.M. will follow in the Christ Lutheran of Elm Creek Cemetery in Seguin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek building fund or cemetery fund, 3305 Church Road, Seguin, TX 78155.
