On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, 2011, we lost our beloved mother, Jane F. Murray. After her long, three-year struggle with complications caused by a stroke, God lovingly brought her home to rest. She was only 74. She was born Jane Francis Ullmann on Nov. 12, 1936, in Floresville, Texas. She was raised in San Antonio and eventually settled in Spring.

Jane graduated from Harlandale High School as a National Honor Society student in 1955. She was a beautiful, generous, loving, compassionate, multi-talented, endlessly creative woman, said her family. She held many roles in life, such as daughter, sister, wife, aunt, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but to her children, the role she played best was Mom.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Otto F. and Francis Kolenda Ullmann; and her brother, Wallace “Gator” Ullmann.

Jane is survived by her husband, Thomas Murray; her sisters, Shirley Robinson and Doris McGowan; her brother, Rodney Ullmann; her sons, Darryl Downs, Mark Downs, and Greg Downs; her daughter, Dolly Crockett; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her cat, Mitzy.

A visitation and rosary were held on Friday, May 13, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A Mass was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phillip Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.
