The City of Poth is currently accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. The Chief is responsible for all operational and administrative aspects of the police department, provide patrol, criminal investigations, crime prevention, enforce all laws and ordinances and be responsible for public health and safety. Must be community oriented, have strong public relations skills, strong work ethics, must be physically fit and maintain a professional image while in uniform. A High School Diploma or GED is required. Must have a valid Class C or higher Texas Driver’s License. Must be TCLEOSE Master Peace Officer certified and have at least 5 years of experience with law enforcement agency; SWAT, Gang Unit, Narcotics or Detective experience a plus, pass a thorough background check investigation with drug screen and credit check. The City offers benefit package with retirement plan and medical insurance. Salary dependent on qualifications. EOE. 1924-2011

Fritz Braun went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 9, 2011, at the age of 87. He was born March 13, 1924, in Garfield, Texas.

He proudly served our country as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda Lea Bain and Evan Braun.

Fritz is survived by his wife of 67-1/2 years, Thelma Rich Braun; his children, Jeanette Braun Brown and husband Asher, Charles Braun Sr. and wife Peggy, and Richard Braun and wife Barbara; his sister, Laura Rich; his sister-in-law, Sylvia Braun; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other family and a host of friends.

A visitation was held on Friday, May 13, from 5-7 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio and on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek in New Berlin.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment with military honors followed in the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek building fund.
