Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1935-2011

Miles Weaver, 76, of Jasper, Texas, died on Monday, May 9, 2011. He was born Feb. 4, 1935.

A native of Houston and a former resident of Floresville and Vernal, Utah, he had resided in Jasper since 2002. Miles graduated from Jasper High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1958-60.

Miles was a general manager for S.F. Phosphates for more than 20 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and ride motorcycles all over the Western United States and Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Isabelle Weaver; his daughter, Paige Coston; and his grandson, Orrin Coston.

Miles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynn McGee Weaver; his daughter, Sharon Weaver Shaver and husband Dewayne of Jasper; and his brother, Clyde Lane Weaver of Jasper. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Amber Shaver Orchosky, Ashlee Shaver, Autumn Shaver Fruge, and William Daniel Iles.

A visitation was held on Friday, May 13, from 5-8 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Jasper.

Interment followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Jasper.

Memorials may be made to the Fallen Bikers Association, 10107 Quaker Ave., Suite 100, Lubbock, TX 79424 or the Wounded Warriors Association, P.O. Box 51, Lewes, DE 19958.
