Frank Charles Bierstedt was relieved of his earthly burdens while in his home in the Country Care Manor in La Vernia, Texas, on Friday, May 13, 2011. He was born Nov. 18, 1920, to Frank and Mathilda Bonewald Bierstedt in Seguin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie “Sally” Bierstedt; his former wife, June Livengood; his sisters, Mince, Bertha, Ida, and Lena Mae; and his brothers, Willie, Alfred, August, and Fritz “Jody.”

Frank is survived by his two sons, Donald Bierstedt and wife Glee of Adkins, and Bruce Bierstedt of New Braunfels; his grandchildren, Caleb Bierstedt of San Antonio and Becky Maass and husband Patrick of Elgin; his great-grandsons, Paden and Preston Maass; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, May 18, from 6-8 p.m. in the Palmer Mortuary in Seguin.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, Frank’s family requests donations be made to the Life Church of La Vernia, P.O. Box 1440, La Vernia, TX 78121.
