ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. The Floresville High School May female student of the month is Annielyn Felux. Annielyn is the 18-year-old daughter of Anecia and Daniel Felux.

For her efforts in the classroom, Annielyn was named to the “A” Honor Roll for three years. She received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award for Art II and Spanish III. Annielyn scored a 4 for Art Regional VASE contest for two years and earned a regional medal. Annielyn is also a member of the National Honor Society and serves as the organization’s reporter.

As a member of the athletic program, Annielyn has been an instrumental part of her teams’ successes. As a freshman, she was the junior varsity basketball captain. She has been on the varsity basketball team for three years and served as this year’s captain. She has been a member of the varsity soccer team and the cross-country team for four years. Annielyn was named Academic All-District for three years for basketball and four years for soccer. She was named this year to the Academic All-State team for basketball and soccer. She was named 1st Team All-District her senior year, and in previous years was Honorable Mention All-District for basketball and soccer. Annielyn placed fifth at the district cross-country meet her sophomore year. Last year, she placed sixth at the district meet.

Despite her busy schedule, Annielyn still finds time to volunteer in her community. She has volunteered with the Salvation Army. She serves as a CCD teacher’s assistant for a fifth-grade class and helps at various church events. Annielyn also does volunteer work with Sports Assistance.

Upon graduation in June, Annielyn will attend the University of Texas, where she will pursue a major in the radio, television, film program.

The Floresville High School May male student of the month is Brett Sheaffer. Brett is the 19-year-old son of Madonna and David Sheaffer.

Brett has been recognized for his academic endeavors. Last year he earned the Outstanding Student of the Year Award for Aerospace. In addition, he is a member in good standing with the National Honor Society.

As a member of the Air Force JROTC his freshman and sophomore years, Brett was named Cadet of the Month for February 2008 and March 2009. He received a Certificate of Honorable Character for Junior ROTC in 2008. Brett was also a member of the football team his first two years in high school.

Upon graduation in June, Brett plans to attend St. Philip’s College where he will major in A & P Mechanics and pursue a career as a U.S. Air Force pilot. He also plans to attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.
