Hazel Gunn Jackson, 96, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Robstown.

She married Vernon E. Jackson in 1935 in San Marcos. In her long life, she formed many friendships in the Kingsland and Marble Falls area and in Sabinal, Bryan, Floresville, and San Antonio.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Frank and Cenia Gunn; and four siblings, Roy Gunn and wife Maggie, Birdie Burleson and husband Jesse, LaRhesa McNair and husband Travis, and Oleta Smith and husband Jim; her brother-in-law, Lewis Knowles; and her son-in-law, Roy Holstein.

She is survived by three children, Jerry Jackson of San Antonio, Janelle Shudde and husband Gerry of Sabinal, and Judy Holstein of San Antonio; and her siblings, Zola Knowles of Bryan, Floyd Gunn of College Station, and Mary House and husband Morris of Bryan. She is also survived by five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and multiple generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration tea will be held in the Floresville Methodist Church in Floresville in June.
