GONZALES -- The Texas Junior High Rodeo Association, an extension of the National High School Rodeo Association and the Texas High School Rodeo Association, is proud to announce that Zoey Wiatrek of Floresville will be attending the state finals in Gonzales May 29 through June 4.

Zoey, a sixth-grader at Floresville Middle School, accumulated enough points in their region rodeos during the 2010-11 rodeo season to qualify to attend the state finals being held in Gonzales. She will be participating in three events -- girls breakaway roping, girls barrel racing, and girls goat tying.

Texas Junior High Rodeo has 10 regions throughout Texas with 570 members in the junior high division. Out of those 10 regions, only the top eight in each event qualify for the state finals.

There will be two performances at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. beginning Monday, May 30, through Friday, June 3, taking the top 15 in each event to the short go on Saturday, June 4.
