Victoria Tovar receives Girl Scout Gold Award
Victoria Tovar of Floresville has achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award available to Girl Scouts in grades 10-12.
The Gold Award represents at least two years of preliminary work and requirements and a 65-hour project that addresses a root cause, stimulates and changes public opinion, and/or educates the public. The project often has a global impact as well, reaching out and effecting sustainable changes.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is equivalent to the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Project and the two-year process requires intensive leadership, organizational, and time-management skills; it requires girls to step outside of their comfort zone and to think “outside of the box.”
For many, it is their first foray into the professional world where they need to seek corporate sponsorships, make community leadership alliances, and become advocates for a cause they are passionate about.
Victoria deserves acknowledgment for her perseverance, determination, and dedication to community advocacy and partnership. She is a true role model and leader of tomorrow.
