Offer condolences


Robert Wayne Thomas, 65, of Nixon, Texas, went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 23, 2011, in New Braunfels. He was born in Brenham on March 7, 1946.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal. He served as a deacon in the Camp Valley Full Gospel Church near Nixon and was a Master Mason in the Reagan Masonic Lodge No. 1037. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ernest “Buck” and Sally Lou Rhodes Thomas; and a brother, Ernst Learoy “Red Horse” Thomas.

He is survived by his wife since July 6, 1968, Vickie LaNora Rhoades Thomas of Nixon; a son, Robert Eric Thomas and wife Marcie of La Vernia; a daughter, Victoria “Tori” Anne Williams and husband James of Smiley; three sisters, Rosie Addison and husband Joe of Dickinson, Roberta Ward and husband Robbin of Snook, and Rita Weber and husband Jimmy of Cypress; his aunt, Mavis Lueckmeyer of Bryan; his grandchildren, Robert “Zachry” Thomas, Kyndal Thomas, and Kenzie Thomas, all of La Vernia, Ezekiel Williams and Genesis Williams, both of Smiley, Jodi Banks and husband Joshua and Emily Addison, all of Texas City, Olivia Addison, Bryce Addison, Luke Addison, Sarah Addison, and James Addison, all of Dickinson, and Macy Ward of Snook; a great-granddaughter, Aubrianna Banks of Texas City; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; and many friends.

A visitation was held Friday, May 27, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Jackson officiating.

Interment followed in the Leesville Cemetery in Gonzales.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Camp Valley Full Gospel Church, 6838 C.R. 121, Nixon, TX 78140.
