The Department of Public Safety, with funding from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, will feature two of the state’s Most Wanted fugitives each month, adding an extra $5,000 cash reward for information leading to their capture.

One offender from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and one from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list will be featured each month in hopes the higher reward money will generate additional tips. The higher reward amount will only be paid if the tip comes in the same month the fugitives are featured.

Two new offenders will be featured each month. The Governor’s Criminal Justice Division will provide the additional reward money through the Texas Crime Stoppers program.

"The Texas Top Ten program is an important tool to help keep our communities safe and help law enforcement officials bring to justice individuals who commit crimes in the Lone Star State," Gov. Rick Perry said. "Designating a featured fugitive each month will bring attention to each of these dangerous offenders, and encourage Texans who have information to notify authorities and help keep these criminals off our streets."

This month’s featured Top 10 fugitive is Rene Morales Munoz, who was last seen in San Antonio. The 43-year-old Mexican Mafia member is wanted in connection with a 2005 Frio County murder and has been a fugitive for the last six years. He has a lengthy, violent criminal history and is also suspected in several other crimes, including a kidnapping and sexual assault. His reward is now up to $15,000 for the month of June. For more information on Munoz, view his wanted poster at:

The featured Most Wanted Sex Offender this month is Antonio Garcia, 35, who was last seen in Houston. His reward increases to $6,000 for any tips this month that lead to his arrest. Garcia, a native of Hidalgo County, served jail time in connection with the brutal kidnapping and rape of a 15-year-old girl in Harris County in 1993. The high-risk sex offender failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements and disappeared in 2007, and is currently wanted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. For additional information, view Garcia’s wanted poster at:

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the 10 Most Wanted Fugitives or Sex Offenders. Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in three different ways:

· Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).

· Text the letters DPS--followed by your tip--to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.

· Submit a tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture to submit a web tip.

All calls, texts or e-mails are anonymous. Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives yourself; they are considered armed and dangerous.
