Blanca Martinez is the Nixon-Smiley class of 2011 valedictorian.

The daughter of Luis and Magdalenda Martinez plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in mathematics.

Throughout high school, Blanca participated in the National Honor Society, Student Council, Business Professionals of America, UIL, Spanish Club, and Science Club.

Blanca volunteered with the RISE after-school program, trash pickups, Student Council holiday projects, and Special Olympics.
