Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Emily Bridgett Flieller, daughter of John and Linda Flieller, is the valedictorian of the Poth High School class of 2011. She is the granddaughter of Jerome and Albina Flieller of Floresville and Tom and Janie Stuebben of San Antonio.

Emily has been a member of the Student Council for four years and has served as president and vice president. She has been a member of the Beta Club all throughout high school. She competed in UIL cross-examination debate, prose interpretation, news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, and calculator applications, advancing to regional competition in news writing and calculator applications.

She played volleyball her freshman year and softball her freshman and sophomore years. She was a varsity cheerleader her sophomore year. She was the band president and drum major her junior and senior years. She is a member of the Science Club. Emily is also an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Poth.

Emily has been a member of Sunnyside 4-H Club since the third grade and has held many offices, including club president this past year. Her sophomore year, Emily was selected as the school representative to attend the GOLD Leadership Conference. She was selected this year as a member of the San Antonio Express-News’ A-Team for dedication to the community and for exemplary academic achievements.

Emily also placed first in the Voice of Democracy at the local and district levels, and ninth at the state level.

Emily will attend the University of the Incarnate Word in the fall, where she plans to major in biology.
