Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Danny Lee Koenning, a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, in Bexar County at the age of 41 years, 7 months, and 10 days. He was born Oct. 21, 1969, in Floresville to Dean and Mary Tkadlec Koenning.

Danny graduated from Floresville High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Terry Leggett Mahan on Sept. 13, 2008. He was a technician with Intertek, a member of the Cove Boy Fishing Team and the Code Blue Softball Club, and he was a member of the House of Prayer in Wilson County.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Hilda Tkadlec and Bertha “Granny” A. Stobb Koenning; his uncle and godparent, Leo Henry Tkadlec Jr.; and his niece, Bailey Louise Koenning.

Danny is survived by his wife, Terry Koenning of Floresville; his parents, Dean and Mary Koenning of Floresville; his brother, Robert “Newy” Koenning and wife Kelly; his nephew, Cody Koenning; his mother-in-law, Janice Garrett-Mason and husband Billy Mason; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his family of chihuahuas, Cocoa, Moon, Chica, Rusty, Max, Candy, Bugsy, Chico, Roxie, Bebe, Chiweeney, Boots, Chula, and three new babies.

A visitation was held on Friday, June 3, from 6-9 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother James Compton officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Koenning, Cody Koenning, Clayton Koenning, Mike Gonzales, Johnny Piskor, George Piskor, Bradley Piskor, Tyler Piskor, Paul Arocha, Randy Price, and Carl Smith.
