Offer condolences


Pauline A. (Lenz) Mattke, 92, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011. She was born Jan. 29, 1919, in La Vernia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Edward and Augusta Schroeder Lenz; her husband, Oscar Edward Mattke; her son-in-law, James Anderson; five brothers; and two sisters.

Pauline is survived by her children, Allan R. Mattke Sr. and wife Mary Anne of La Vernia and Nancy L. Jenkins of La Vernia; her stepdaughter, Irene E. Anderson of New Braunfels; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Julius Lenz and wife Mildred of San Antonio; her sister, Adeline Pierdolla of La Vernia; her sister-in-law, Edna Markgraf of La Vernia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

A visitation was held Sunday, June 5, from 3-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Vernia with Dr. Robert Palan officiating.

Interment followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in La Vernia.
