CASA VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, FULL-TIME POSITION. Provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers to ensure that abused children’s best interests are represented in court. Social services experience required.  Responsible for assisting with recruiting and initial training of advocates, and coordinating cases in Wilson County and Karnes County with Atascosa County (home office). Must demonstrate written and presentation communication skills. Offer condolences


Larry Lynn Valchar, a longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas, entered into eternal rest Thursday, May 26, 2011, in his residence in San Antonio at the age of 54 years, 8 months, and 5 days. He was born Sept. 21, 1956, in Floresville to Eddie Marvin and Emma Labus Valchar.

Larry graduated from Poth High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering at Texas A&I University in Kingsville. He worked for both Brooks Air Force Base and Kelly Air Force Base as an electrical engineer, systems analyst, and programmer. He had resided in San Antonio the past 27 years.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his brothers, Eddie Wayne Valchar and wife Sandy of Houston, Ronald Valchar and wife Carolyn of San Antonio, and Charlie Valchar and wife Geneva of Floresville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 31, from 5-8 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Alan Crosby officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Clifford Brown, Maurice Isaac, Roger Morales, Bill Wilson, Nemesio Garcia, and Alton Jenkins.
