Registration is now open for the 37th annual Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas (ICA) Convention and Trade Show Wednesday through Friday, June 22-24, at the Moody Gardens Hotel and Spa in Galveston.

The Bonus Beef Cattle Program will be held on Wednesday. Topics include herd health; safe, effective cattle handling; beef cattle nutrition; cattle harvest regulations at the processing plant; and techniques on weed control for pastures.

Thursday’s Cattlemen’s Conference includes health strategies and concepts that can improve the productivity of the cow/calf enterprise.

General sessions will include presentations on the benefits and risks of drought insurance; strategies for selection of replacement heifers; update on the Beef Check-off; and the role of U.S. beef in the world market.

Friday will be a fast-paced, information-packed morning starting with a discussion on Texas oil and gas leasing by Judon Fambrough, a nationally renowned speaker. The morning will wrap up with industry updates from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and the U.S. Cattlemen’s Association and a Texas Legislature update from the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture Drew DeBerry.
