(Revised)
Prohibitions on outdoor burning continue for unincorporated areas of Wilson County. At its June 13 meeting, the Wilson County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to renew a months-long burn ban.
For the next 90 days -- until Sept. 11 -- burning of household trash will only be allowed in screened burn barrels during daylight hours. Agricultural burning will only be allowed with prior approval of the Wilson County Health and Public Safety Office, which can be reached at 830-393-8503.
In addition, County Judge Marvin Quinney and commissioners Albert Gamez Jr., Paul Pfeil, Ricky Morales, and Larry Wiley voted unanimously to enact a 60-hour ban on aerial fireworks. The ban is effective immediately. After the meeting, Quinney signed a disaster declaration, which asks the state for permission to ban the sale and use of all fireworks through July 4.
