4-H Rifle Team continues its success

Shooters from the Wilson County 4-H Rifle Team made several trips to Victoria over the last few months, competing in a number of tournaments.
The team’s first trip to Victoria was March 12, and Wilson County shooters returned home with a number of strong finishes.
In the Junior division, Justin Craig led Wilson County with a seventh-place finish, and Dylan Willeford finished ninth.
LeAnn Yelton led the Junior Intermediate team with a first-place individual finish in Victoria, followed by Kyle Dawson in second, Chris Jacob in sixth, and Asher Welfel in seventh place. In the team standings, Yelton, Dawson, Jacob, and Welfel blew away the competition to also claim first-place team honors.
The Intermediate team had a good showing to finish third overall, as Kyle Crowder, Cameron Clark, and Tristan Summy finished eighth, ninth, and 10th overall, respectively.
In Senior competition, Barrett Raabe led the team to a third-place team finish, as he finished fourth overall. Michael Barclay, Serina Holder, and Troy Stork rounded out the team.
Two weeks later, the Wilson County shooters made a return trip to Victoria for the Bee County tournament, and once again found success.
The Junior team shot well in Bee County, and took home third-place team honors. Johnny Albright led the way with his third-place finish, Kyle Moy was seventh, and Stephen Jacob was 10th. The team trophy went to Albright, Jacob, Dylan Willeford, and Klayton Matney.
The Junior Intermediate team was on its game again at this tournament, as it once again captured the first-place team trophy. Asher Welfel led the way with his second-place showing, Chris Jacob was fifth, LeAnn Yelton was seventh, Mercedes Guevara finished eighth, and Jacob Bailey wound up 10th. The first-place team members included Welfel, Jacob, Yelton, and Dawson. The team of Guevara, Bailey, Christian McIntyre, and Shawn Holder finished third in the team standings.During Intermediate competition, Kyle Crowder finished seventh for Wilson County. Serina Holder was seventh in the Senior division, and Andrew Morehous finished ninth in Senior competition. Holder, Morehous, and Barrett Raabe finished third in the team standings.
The team continued its competition trail with a return trip to Victoria to compete in the Colorado County tournament.
In Juniors action, Stephen Jacob finished fourth and Dylan Willeford was sixth. Jacob, Willeford, and Gake Guerrero finished third in the team standings.
The Junior Intermediate team was led by Asher Welfel’s first-place finish. Kyle Dawson finished seventh for the Wilson County team, and Chris Jacob was eighth. Welfel, Dawson, Jacob, and Mercedes Guevara took home first-place team honors.
Cameron Clark finished ninth for the Wilson County team in the Intermediate division, and Serina Holder represented the Seniors at the tournament with her sixth-place finish.
