Meredith Edward Lucas
Meredith Edward Lucas Jr., 67, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011. He was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Raymondville.
Luke attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Kingsville, after which he graduated from high school at Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio.
He entered the U.S. Coast Guard, was in Special Forces, and had six weeks of training with the Marine Corps during his enlistment at Fort Pendleton. When Luke returned home, he was employed by American Airlines as a baggage-freight handler. He was later employed by South San Independent School District and Southwest Texas Research Center as a security professional.
He and Millie married on Feb. 2, 1975. They had a very good and happy marriage. God sent them to each other. Luke was very much loved and respected. He also loved and was kind and polite to all people. He showed his love to everyone. His family said, “We all miss him and God gave us 45 years more to his life, and now our Lord has decided to take Luke to his final place with Him.”
He was preceded in death by his father, P.J. “Red” Skrobarcek.
He is survived by his wife, Millie (Binegar) Lucas of San Antonio; her sons, Lennie and Roy Kuhn of San Antonio; his mother, Lillie (Cheney) Skrobarcek of La Vernia; his sister, Pricilla Montgomery and husband Monty of Tarpley; his brother, Frank and wife Mary Lee of La Vernia; several nieces and nephews; and many loving family members and friends.
A visitation took place Thursday, June 9, from 6-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.
A funeral service was held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church in Seguin with the Rev. Richard Mittelstadt officiating.
Interment followed in the Concrete Cemetery near La Vernia.
