The East Central FFA competed in the State FFA Judging Contest the first week in May at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and Texas A&M University in College Station. Six teams hit the road in hopes of bringing home a state championship and the floriculture team did just that.

Lorie Kempen coached the floriculture team of Holly Bailey, Brooke Kosub, Christi Schick, and Amy Castleman. Amy was also the high individual at the state contest. This marks the third state floriculture championship title for East Central.

Kempen also coached the ag sales team of Shelbie Thames, Alexis Wagner, and Heather Kosub. The team placed sixth in their first appearance at state.

The fourth-place poultry team, coached by Ray Pieniazek, included Jared Pieniazek, Evan Pieniazek, Bethany Mihalic, and Kylie Brown.

Pieniazek also coached the meats team. Shelbie Knox, Jordan Hevner, Cierra Gawlik, and Aaron Maron comprised this team, placing 11th in state competition.

Charlie Dylla coached the ag mechanics team of Kyle Brown, Michael Moczygemba, and Levi Hevner to a 12th-place state finish.

The livestock judging team of Frank Aniol, Holden Black, Hailey Marshall, and Tyler Baird placed 34th. Danny Kempen coached this team.
