Pilot program for junior golfers

The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) will conduct a pilot event in San Antonio aimed at providing opportunities to South Central regional junior golfers at the 2011 Genesis Shootout presented by the Valero Texas Open at Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club July 11-14.

The Genesis Shootout will offer opportunities to 132 junior golfers, boys and girls ages 12-18, who are residents of Mexico, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, and who have met one of the following requirements:

•Individual state high school golf champion (all divisions in the 2010-11 academic year).

•AJGA tournament champion (from June 2010 to May 2011).

•A top finisher in 2010 state golf association junior championship.

•Current members of the Mexican Junior National Team.

Tournament entry fee is $270, and participants must be AJGA members, or join the AJGA, in order to participate.
