True to his word, “Singing Zoologist” Lucas Miller rocked the American Legion Hall in Floresville June 6 with his songs and stories about wildlife as he kicked off the 2011 Summer Reading Club for the Sam Fore Jr. Wilson County Public Library.

An audience of 91 young listeners and 45 adults was treated to his energetic and enthusiastic performance of some old favorites as well as a few new songs and stories.

Following the outstanding performance by Lucas Miller, Wilson County News’ Newspapers In Education mascot Wilson shared copies of “The 411,” the kids’ section of the newspaper. Wilson also let everyone know that they can sign up for his reading club and Wilson’s Birthday Club.

There is still time to register for the library’s summer reading program, which is for everyone. The program continues until Saturday, July 16.

For more information, call the library at 830-393-7361.
