Offer condolences


Raymond S. Brister, 89, of Nixon, Texas, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011. He was born in Leesville on Dec. 31, 1921, to Seab and Margaret Bell Brister.

He served In the U.S. Army Air Corps. during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Brister; his parents; one brother; and three sisters.

Raymond is survived by his daughters, Jeanine Williams and husband Danny of Stockdale and Judy Parker and husband Jim of Cuero; his son, Jerry Brister and wife Sandy of Ingleside; his grandchildren, Bryan Williams, Todd Williams, Michael Brister, Amanda Brister Havel, Rachel Parker Longoria, Lisa Parker Youngblood, and Amber Parker Vogt; and his great-grandchildren, Nichole Williams, Breanne Williams, Stephan Williams, Joshua Williams, Kamryn Williams, Andrew Brister, Bethy Brister, Alyssa Moncrief, Morgan Havel, Maddy Longoria, Connor Longoria, Evan Youngblood, and Parker Vogt.

Visitation was held Monday, June 20, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating.

Interment followed in the Caraway Cemetery in Leesville.

Pallbearers included Bryan Williams, Todd Williams, Michael Brister, Johnny Havel, John Youngblood, and Joshua Williams. Honorary pallbearers included Casey Vogt and Randy Longoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
