Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

John T. Rye, 75, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011. He was born March 13, 1936, in Nashville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth (Steeley) Rye; his mother-in-law; his father-in-law; his daughter, Sherry Lynn Hawkins; his granddaughter, Shannon Rakowitz; three brothers; one sister; and one brother-in-law.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marian J. (West) Rye; his son, Ronnie J. Rye; his grandchildren, Connie Crowder, Crystal Hawkins, Thomas Rye, and James Rye; six great-grandchildren; his brother, William Rye; his sisters, Clara Johnson and Elizabeth Walker, all of Tennessee; and his sister-in-law, Monette West.

A visitation took place on Thursday, June 16, from 2-9 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Concrete Cemetery near La Vernia.

Memorial donations may be made to the La Vernia Volunteer Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 308, La Vernia, TX 78121 or Concrete Cemetery, P.O. Box 622, La Vernia, TX 78121 for memorial tree planting in memory of John T. Rye.
