Texas International Fishing Tournament set for Aug. 3-7
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND -- The 72nd annual Texas International Fishing Tournament (TIFT) is scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday, Aug. 3-7, and is expected to attract more than 1,200 participants. The family-oriented event includes two days of competitive fishing and an array of activities.
The event kicks off with a play day on Thursday, Aug. 4, featuring activities and games for the entire family. The fishing contests will be held all day on Friday, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 6. In addition to bay and offshore divisions, TIFT offers categories for anglers of all ages.
TIFT grants scholarships to eligible undergraduates each year and has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships since the program’s inception.
Early registration is now under way online at www.tift.org. Registration takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 3-8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Centre. Registration for adult anglers is $100 per participant. Junior registration fees range from $16-$30 and captain/crew and social fees are $50 per person.
