The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will manage a specialized caseload with a focus on criminal enterprise, human trafficking/human smuggling and other cases as needed. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas, and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of five (5) years prosecutorial experience with felony cases and extensive trial experience. Salary commensurate with experience. Resumes will be accepted through the close of business October 19, 2015. Jeff and Audra Barba of Adkins, Texas, and Paul Powers of Ft. Worth are proud to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Amber Darlene Powers, to Jacob Lynn Miller, the son of Victor and Sheri Yates of San Antonio and Ronald and Dolores Miller of China Grove.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Rudy and Darlene Manka of Adkins and Wallace and Bernice Sendemer of San Antonio.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Bessie Terrell of Port Arthur and the late Henry Terrell and Horace “Buddy” and Leita Miller of China Grove.

Amber, a 2006 graduate of East Central High School and a 2010 graduate of Tarleton State University, is currently employed at Frost National Bank.

Jacob, a 2004 graduate of East Central High School, is currently employed with City Public Service as a Calaveras Power Plant welder.

Amber and Jacob will be united in holy matrimony in July in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, with a reception to follow at the American Legion Post 539 in St. Hedwig.

The couple plan to honeymoon in Hawaii and reside near Adkins.
