FLORESVILLE -- Dr. Jerry Lee Hunkapiller has been named the lone finalist in the Floresville Independent School District (ISD) superintendent search. The district’s board unanimously approved his selection during a July 7 special meeting.
Hunkapiller has served for almost five years as the superintendent of the Millsap ISD. The married father of five will succeed Dr. David Vinson, who resigned earlier this year after being selected as the superintendent of the Wylie ISD.
According to its website, the Millsap ISD is a 2A school district located west of Fort Worth. It is home to approximately 775 students who reside over an area of 124 square miles.
Hunkapiller is set to officially take the helm Aug. 1. The state’s Education Code requires the district’s board to wait at least 21 days to formally hire him.
