FLORESVILLE -- At one time, the Labatt Fish Farm, located on U.S. 181 north of here, was a prime place to catch fresh catfish, but for the last year, the business has been closed, and owner Clarence Roemer said he has no plans to reopen.

“We did appreciate everyone’s support,” Roemer said. “But we are closed now, and probably won’t reopen.”

Roemer said there were a number of reasons why the farm was shut, including workload, drought, and other factors.
