Elvis Mae Boatright Gordon, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011, in Nixon, Texas. She was born March 14, 1926, in Gonzales County to Walter and Clara Croft Boatright.

Elvis was retired from the Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District and was a member of Faith Temple Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ansel Hensley Gordon; her son, Henry Ervin Gordon; and three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Iva Jane Kosub and husband Glen of Nixon, Vera Ann Cone and husband Harvey of Leesville, and Marilyn Rose McDaniel of Nixon; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Gordon of Nixon; her brothers, Walter Boatright Jr. and Delbert Boatright; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held Monday, July 11, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Faith Temple Church in Nixon with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating.

Interment followed in the Union Valley Cemetery near Nixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elvis’ name to Faith Temple Church, P.O. Box 102, Leesville, TX 78122.
