Mary Elizabeth Purdom, 83, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011. She was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Smiley to Arthur “Buff” and Mary Kercheville Patteson.

Beth attended Smiley Elementary School. She graduated from Abilene High School and Abilene Christian University. Before moving to San Antonio, Beth and her husband, Harold, lived in Odessa, Houston, and Panorama Village.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold Purdom; her sons, Charles L. Purdom and wife Sherry of Hurst, Lawrence E. Purdom of Katy, and Harry E. Purdom and wife Pam of Richardson; five granddaughters; two grandsons; one great-grandson; her brother, Lewis A. Patteson of Danville, Calif.; a sister, Nelda Patteson of Smiley; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in the Bundick Cemetery in Smiley at a time to be determined later.

In lieu of flowers, it was Beth’s wish that a friend take another friend to dinner.
