Help Wanted

Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Faye Belle Elley passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011, in her home in La Vernia, Texas. She was born Nov. 8, 1930, in Mercedes.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Fikes; her mother, Kitty Caskey; her stepfather, W.K. Caskey; and her children’s father, Floyd Perry Jr.

Faye is survived by her husband of 31 years, Clarence V. Elley Sr.; her sister, Sevella Jayne Vidaurri of San Antonio; her children, Barbara Emilienburg and husband Tim of San Antonio, Helen Baumann and husband Vaughn of Floresville, Cheryl Perry and partner Bruce of San Antonio, Cindy Elley Preacher and husband Roger of La Vernia, Sandra Elley McCraw and husband Greg of Florida, Clarence Elley Jr. and wife Sue of Elmendorf, and Joseph Elley and wife Diane of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Daniel Segovia and wife Mandy, Lee Emilienburg, Clint Bush and wife Krista, Lori Kittredge and husband Kevin, Jenitta Eskew and husband Mark, Larry “Tommy” Daniels and wife Julie, Serena Hooper, Christina Seed, Trey Elley, Blaine Elley, Dustin McCraw and wife Stephanie, and Clint McCraw and wife Kristina; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, July 6, from 6-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment was held in the Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin.
