Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Adam B. Schraub, a lifelong resident of the Wilson and Karnes county areas, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011, at 1:04 a.m. in the Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 2 days.

Adam was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Three Oaks to Hugo and Lena Trier Schraub. Adam attended school in Three Oaks and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Adam was a lifelong farmer, and worked for many years manufacturing trailers with Hobbs Trailers in San Antonio, and also worked in maintenance with the Floresville Independent School District. Adam was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8555. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Adam was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Arno Schraub, Viola Rosema, Leona Schmidt, and Roselie Arnold; and his son-in-law, David Wolfe.

Adam is survived by his children, Michael Schraub and wife Jeanette of Poth, Clifton Schraub and wife Mary of Canyon Lake, Thomas Schraub of Poth, Arnold Schraub of Blackhill, and Barbara Wolfe of Floresville; his sister, Verlene Saur of New Braunfels; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held Tuesday, July 12, at 5 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Dewees Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Schraub, Arnold Schraub, Aaron Schraub, Kenneth Pruski, Thomas W. Mutz, and Ian Cameron.

The family requests memorials be made to the Dewees Cemetery, c/o Scott Boening, 2438 C.R. 137, Floresville, TX 78114.
