Donna Lee Florence Prouty Minor, 76, of Brookings, S.D., died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in Brookings. She was born May 17, 1935, in Hayti, S.D., the daughter of Fred and Lily (Shelsta) Prouty.

Donna Lee graduated from Hayti High School and received her teaching certificate from Beadle College in Madison, S.D. She taught for several years and was very active in YMW (Young Men and Women). Through YMW, she met Floyd Minor. They were married on Oct. 28, 1955, in Lake Norden, S.D. They lived and farmed in Moody County. They raised seven children on their farm. Family was very important to Donna. She loved living in the country, working side by side with Floyd and gardening. Donna was a member of the Lake Campbell Lutheran Church.

She was a strong-willed, determined woman. At age 50, she went back to college and achieved a computer operations degree from Southeast Technical School in Sioux Falls. Donna was then employed by the SDSU Alumni Association. After retirement, Donna loved to travel and visit her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Zebediah; three brothers, Lamoyne, Lester, and Ronald Prouty; and one sister, Lorraine Tetzlaff.

She is survived by her children Daniel Minor and wife Mary of Brookings, David Minor and wife Mary Jo of Brookings, Dennis Minor and wife Debbie of Lisle, Ill., Dianne Mason and husband Al of Shell Knob, Mo., Janelle Braund and husband Zane of Braham, Minn., Joel Minor of Fort Worth, Texas, and Judy Fleming and husband Tom of Floresville; 26 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 7, from 4-7:30 p.m. in Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral service was held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Lake Campbell Lutheran Church in rural Volga, S.D.
