Elizabeth Kotara, 79, of Cestohowa, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in San Antonio. She was born to Alois and Mary Skloss on June 26, 1932.

She married Anthony Kotara on Nov. 15, 1955, in Kosciusko. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, and grandmother. She was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa and a member of the Altar Society. Elizabeth enjoyed farming, ranching, gardening, making quilts, being a homemaker, and a mother to all of her six children. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony; sons David and Jeffery Kotara; brothers John, Tommy, and Victor Skloss; her great-granddaughter, Hope Elizabeth Kotara; and her sister, Cecelia Niemietz.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Raymond Kotara and wife Annette of Karnes City, Richard Kotara and wife Rosemarie of La Vernia, and Larry Kotara and wife Lisa of Falls City; her daughter, Diane Sifuentes and husband Philip of Angleton; grandchildren Scott Kotara, Brian Kotara and wife Jennifer, Stephen Kotara and wife Candice, Scott E. Kotara, Cody Kotara, and Michael Joaquin Sifuentes; and great-grandchildren Jarran Kotara, Nova Kotara, Gilbert Salas III, and Jaylin Cantu. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lucille Kopecki, Della Drzymala, Annie Skloss, Doris Barrier, and Sally Skloss; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Buddy Kotara, who always kept her company.

A rosary was recited Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa.

A funeral Mass was recited Friday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Cestohowa Cemetery.
