1923-2011

Maxine Jones, 88, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011. She was born on March 26, 1923, in Kenedy, Texas.

She was one of the pioneer employees of Southwestern Bell Telephone, having worked for the company for 33 years before her retirement. Maxine was a devout member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elihu and Bertha Lewallen; her brothers, Hugh, Jack, Elmo, and Kent Lewallen; her sisters, Mavionne and twin sister, Maurine.

Maxine is survived by her beloved husband, William D. Jones; her nephew, Roland Leifeste; and her step-daughter-in-law, Diane Jones of Tennessee.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 20, at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in San Antonio.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
