Howard ‘Skippy’ Jobson
Howard “Skippy” Jobson, loving husband, father, grandfather, and coach, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on Dec. 24, 1929, in El Centro, Calif. Skippy graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948 and Trinity University in 1953, where he was named “Little All-American” on the football team.
Skippy coached and served as athletic director for 35 years, coaching in Karnes City, San Benito, Alamo Heights, Junction, and 30 years with the Harlandale Independent School District (ISD), serving as assistant football coach at Harlandale High School from 1959-62 and was the first head football coach at McCollum High School from 1962-65. He served as athletic director for the Harlandale ISD from 1965-89, where he was named to the district’s hall of fame.
Skippy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sarah Lou Jobson; daughter Debbie Jobson; sons Travis Richard Jobson and wife Carmen and Jay Don Jobson and wife Sylvia; his sister, Virginia Alder; grandchildren Justin, Jared, Cody, and Caitlin Jobson, Randi Martin and husband Adam, and Ty Jobson; niece Susan Marrett; and nephew Jamie Alder.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 21, from 6-9 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels North in San Antonio.
A funeral service was held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Boerne United Methodist Church in Boerne.
Interment followed in the Mission Burial Park North in San Antonio.
