Daniel Gary (Mechtel) Mitchell, 68, of Erie, N.D., passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, in Blanco, Texas. He was born Aug. 4, 1942.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Wesley and Lillian Amelia (Collins) Mitchell; and his sister, Letha Pueppke.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Phyllis Mitchell of San Antonio; his daughter, Elizabeth DeWaters of Canyon Lake; his sons, George Mitchell of Spring Branch and Joseph Mitchell of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Lilliana DeWaters and Collin DeWaters, both of Canyon Lake; his sisters, Lura Uecker of Bulverde and Lorene Kvittum of Bismarck, N.D.; his brothers, Byron Mitchell of Albuquerque, N.M., and Eldon Mitchell of Belen, N.M.; his nephews, Herbert Uecker, David Pueppke, Steven Pueppke, Eric Pueppke, Larry Kvittum, and Jeff Mitchell; his nieces, Nancy (Kvittum) Eley, Ann Kvittum, Jody Mitchell, Debbie Mitchell, and Julie Mitchell; his great-nephews, Michael Pueppke, Albert Uecker, Nicholas Pueppke, Beno Pueppke, Christopher Pueppke, Matthew Pueppke, and Luke Pueppke.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, July 20, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Parish Cemetery in Kosciusko with Father Andrew Waszczenko officiating.
