George Michael “Mike” Stinnett, 56, of Seguin, Texas, died in his home on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Mike was born in Alexandria, Va., on April 4, 1955, and spent the first 40 years of his life there. He graduated from Groveton High School in 1973.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Mack Stinnett Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; his mother, Evelyn R. Stinnett Pearson of Fredericksburg, Va., his mother-in-law, Lola Myers Barnett of Seguin; his brothers-in-law, William F. “Bill” Bitto of Fredericksburg, Va., and Gerald P. “Henry” Barnett III of Stockdale; and his niece, Ashley K. Barnett of Seguin.
Mike is survived by his wife and soulmate, Elizabeth A. “Beth” Stinett; his daughters, Malisa Robey and husband Ron of McKinney, Jessica Henry of San Marcos, and Kasie Jacobs and husband Michael of Mesquite; his grandchildren, Shaun Jacobs, Brittany Robey, Madeline Jacobs, Meganne Henry, Josephine Robey, and Madison Henry; his sisters, Linda Phillips and husband Charlie Cox of Fredericksburg, Va., Deborah Trueman and husband Gordon of Front Royal, Va., and Robin Stinnett-Sowers and husband Greg of Bloomery, W.V.; eight nephews; six nieces; eight great-nephews; and 16 great-nieces.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m. in the Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001 or Hope Hospice, 611 N. Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, TX 78130.
