Kaylee Sanchez was presented with a framed print of the watercolor painting done by Mary Borgia on July 19 in the Sarah Bain Chandler Public Library in Stockdale. Mary Borgia, a local professional artist and author, personally selected Kaylee’s submission and made the presentation.
In competition against all of the Stockdale Elementary School students, Kaylee’s unique name for the painting donated by Borgia to the Stockdale Library, “Adventures Beyond,” was chosen and was announced at the Elementary Awards program in May.
The Library Board of the Sarah Bain Chandler Public Library presented Kaylee with a cash award in honor of winning the contest.
The community is invited by Kaylee, the Library Board, and Library Volunteers to stop by and view the watercolor, which is hanging in the children’s section of the library.
Kaylee, the daughter of Nathen and Terrah Sanchez, is the granddaughter of Leroy and Diana Sanchez, Jimmy and Jenny Rangel, and Barbara Jordan.
Shannon Mills, Kaylee’s second-grade teacher, said Kaylee is a top AR Reader and that she loves to read and enjoys drawing animals, which impressed Borgia.
Kaylee has been coming to the Stockdale Library since she was 2 years old.
