William ‘Archie’ Szalwinski

1930-2011

William “Archie” Szalwinski, 80, of Seguin, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in San Antonio. He was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Falls City to Pete J. and Bernice Dworaczyk Szalwinski.

Archie lived in Seguin the past 10 years, but he lived in Kenedy most of his life. Archie served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Poth Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8555 and the Knights of Columbus Falls City Council No. 6782 serving as a Fourth Degree Knight. He was a rancher, interior decorator, painter, and bakery route salesman for 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Theresa Szalwinski; his son, David J. Szalwinski; and his sisters, Bernice Janysek and Virginia Zaiontz.

Archie is survived by his wife, Gladys Jo Szalwinski of Seguin; his son, Robert W. Szalwinski and wife Shawna of Corpus Christi; his daughters, Dorothy Ralph and husband Lester of Slidell, La., and Sharon Burrow and husband Steve of Willis; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Szalwinski of Falls City; and his brother, Peter Paul Szalwinski of Falls City.

A rosary will be recited Thursday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa.

Interment will follow in the Cestohowa Cemetery in Cestohowa.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Ronald Ralph, Tye Szalwinski, Jarret Burrow, Kelly Weber, Marty Green, and Zebulah Schoberned.
