Patrick Hanlon Rayburg, 67, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on Feb. 17, 1944.

He graduated high school from St. John’s Seminary. Patrick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard three destroyers, the USS Gyatt, the USS Topeka, and the USS Wren. Following his military career, he devoted 38 years as a route man in the uniform business, retiring from Cintas in 2010.

Known for his friendliness, Pat never met a stranger. He enjoyed many hobbies, including model trains as a member of SAMRA and TCA, sailing, air shows, water gardens, history, and caring for his Purple Martin colony. He and his wife also enjoyed taking Amtrak train trips.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Eileen Rayburg.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, Naomi “Nikki” Rayburg; his son, Russell Rayburg and wife Brenda; his daughter, Judy Rayburg Collins and husband Denis; his stepdaughters, Heather Real and husband Darrin and Erin Day and husband Mike; his stepson, Steven Hurley Jr. and wife Blanca; his grandchildren, Jordan and Victoria Rayburg, Ian and Ava Real, and his grandson-to-be, Denis Patrick Collins; his sisters, Eileen Crow and Kathy Rayburg; his brothers, John Rayburg and Paul Michael Rayburg; and many relatives and friends.

A special thanks goes to his beloved CNA, Victoria Delgado, said his family.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 4-9 p.m. in the Porter Loring Mortuary in San Antonio.

A rosary will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Interment will follow in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association of South Texas, 8600 Wurzbach Road, Ste. 700, San Antonio, TX 78240 or the Tin Can Sailors Inc. at www.destroyers.org/save-our-ships/save_our_ships_donations.
