After months of waiting and anticipation, most of the area’s athletes went back to work this week, as they reported to their coaches to begin two-a-days.

With the exception of East Central and Floresville high schools, all of the area’s football teams were back on the practice field Monday morning. Because the Hornets and Tigers held a spring football season, they cannot begin practices until Aug. 8.

In addition to football, those who participate in volleyball, cross country, and team tennis were also gearing up for the 2011 fall season. The girls will begin volleyball competition nearly immediately, though the other sports will not begin recording wins or losses until the end of August.

For schedules, rosters, photos, and more, be sure to grab the Wilson County News Fall Sports Preview in the Aug. 24 issue.
