SEGUIN -- Anais Avilez and Douglas Ryan Hill were recently awarded academic scholarships at Texas Lutheran University’s (TLU) Pacesetter Day.

Anais, a graduate of Floresville High School, is the daughter of Rey and Maryann Avilez.

Douglas, a graduate of La Vernia High School, is the son of Doug and Estella Hill.

The Pacesetter Award for College Excellence, a scholarship ranging from $15,000 per year up to full tuition, was given to 116 incoming students who met stringent academic requirements.

Other awards offered during the event included the Da capo Award in Music and the Locus Aduro Award in Dramatic Media. More than 100 students from around the United States and two foreign countries participated in this year’s event.
