The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office is seeking candidates for the position of an Administrative Assistant. Duties will include but not limited to: answering incoming calls and greeting visitors, prepare discovery for defense bar as required, providing administrative and clerical support to the ADAs and District Attorney, assist in general office work and perform related duties as follows: Operate a multi-line telephone switchboard, proficient use of software applications and computer equipment, scanning and compiling files for eDiscovery, filing and creating court files, generating reports as required. Applicants must have at least five (5) years of administrative assistant experience, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 1939-2011

Joy D. (Wilson) Maynor, 72, formerly of Yoakum, Texas, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, in Victoria. She was born in Omen on July 3, 1939.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Januice M. Davis and Jesse Leon Wilson Sr.; her brothers, Ulan and Jesse Wilson II; and her sister, Dicey Jones.

She is survived by her companion, Laddie Studler; her two daughters, Karen Gill and Angela Doubrava; her son, Jackie Robbins; her grandchildren, Sam Doubrava, Lance Thurman, Amanda Gill, Jerry Robbins, Destinee Robbins, and Donovan Robbins; her great-grandchildren, Annabelle Thurman, Alana DeLeon, and Anthony Gill; her sister, Betty Wilson; her brothers, Wade Wilson and Pat Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 8, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating.

Interment followed in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
