Each year, many youth are injured or killed in tractor-related accidents.

With these facts in mind, the First Shot Antique Tractor Show will hold a Youth Tractor Safety Program and Contest during the annual Antique Tractor Show to be held starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the J.B. Wells Park on U.S. 183 S. in Gonzales.

The program will help our youth be safer tractor operators and hopefully save a life or injury. The program and contest is open to all youth 12 to 18 years old who live in South Texas. Adults are welcome to take part but will not be eligible for prizes.

Youth will be provided with a manual to study before the day of the program. Signup deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 30. Registration fee is $10.

Prizes will be awarded to the safest youths; new tractors for the driving portion of the contest will be provided by local tractor dealers.

This will be a fun learning program and may help save a youth from death or life-changing injury. Accidents happen in a split second; don’t let our youth be one of the numbers.

To register, call 830-437-2753 or e-mail katyd@gvtc.com.

For more information, call Bob Day at 830-437-2753 or e-mail katyd@gvtc.com.
