AUSTIN -- New and returning students moving into residence halls at the University of Texas at Austin for the fall semester will be welcomed and assisted by volunteer members of the university community during Mooov-In 2011 Friday and Saturday, Aug. 19-20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mooov-In embodies a tradition of students, faculty, and staff members volunteering to help new and returning students moving into their residence halls the weekend before the start of fall semester classes, which this year begin Wednesday, Aug. 24.

A total of 300 members of the university community have volunteered to help with the project, which involves working in shifts, helping new students and their parents carry suitcases, boxes, and other belongings from vehicles and moving the items into residence halls. The Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Division of Housing and Food Service, and the University Residence Hall Association sponsor Mooov-In, which began in 1993.
