ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

SAN ANTONIO -- Recent high school graduates from throughout Bexar County, all members of area 4-H clubs, have received more than $200,000 in scholarships, said the county’s Texas AgriLife Extension Service agent for 4-H and youth development.

This year’s SALE scholarship recipients and their respective 4-H clubs include Jacob Stuart of the St. Hedwig 4-H and Zachary Williams of the East Central 4-H Club. Scholarship recipients were recognized at the annual 4-H Awards Program Aug. 12 in Helotes.

The largest financial contributor to these scholarships was the San Antonio Livestock Exposition Inc. (SALE), which provided funding for 12 four-year scholarships of $16,000 each, said Greg Myles, AgriLife Extension agent in Bexar County working with 4-H programs.

4-H members also received $18,000 in scholarships through the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Foundation. Scholarships were awarded to students planning to pursue a degree in agriculture, agribusiness, life sciences, or a related field.
