FLORESVILLE -- Wilson County 4-H hosted the District Shooting Tournament back on April 16 at the show barn here, and there were shooters from 13 different counties represented.

Junior team shooters for Wilson County were Johnny Albright, Stephen Jacob, and Dylan Willeford. The team shot well and ended up with the second-place trophy. Individually, the first-place award went to Johnny Albright, with Stephen Jacob making a fifth-place showing.

The Junior Intermediate team blew away the competition to win first-place honors by 77 points. Team members are LeAnn Yelton, Christopher Jacob, Asher Welfel, and Kyle Dawson. Not only did LeAnn Yelton take first place, she also shot a personal best. Following right behind her was Christopher Jacob in second. He also shot a personal best. Asher Welfel then made it a clean sweep by taking third, and shooting a new personal best as well. Seventh place went to Kyle Dawson.

The Intermediate team members put on a show of their own as well, as Kyle Crowder, Cameron Clark, Tristan Summy, and Trevor Johnson kept first-place honors in Wilson County. A total of 147 points separated the group from the team in second place. The individual first-place trophy went to Kyle Crowder, with Cameron Clark close behind in third, followed by Tristan Summy in fourth.

The Senior team edged out Medina County to grab first-place honors this year. Team members Andrew Morehous, Barrett Raabe, Serina Holder, and Michael Barclay made up the squad. Morehous came in third, followed by Raabe in fourth, Holder in fifth, and Barclay in sixth place. The Senior team qualified for the state competition -- the team’s ninth consecutive trip to the Texas 4-H Indoor Championship.
