FLORESVILLE -- When the annual Kosciusko Open was held in Seguin a few years ago, a playoff was needed to determine the tournament championship. The event was held at the River Bend Golf Club at Floresville this year, but a playoff was once again necessary, this time for second-place honors.

At the end of regulation play, Todd Fields, Brad Urbanczyk, Derek Wiatrek, and Travis Land had the championship wrapped up with a score of 61, but a total of four teams found themselves in a tie for second place with scores of 62. To break the tie, the teams went into a “playoff.”

The first to be eliminated was the team of Louis Jonietz, Jamie Overocker, Derek Wiatrek, and Aaron Pape. The team of Tripp Puhl, Renee Castellano, Matt Moczygemba, and Curt Alexander was the second to go. In the end, Bobby Skloss, John Kotara, Herb Adams, and Nathan Skloss finished second; while Kenneth Wiatrek, Ray Drzymala, Jimmy Wiatrek, and Casey Pruski took home third-place honors.

There were a total of 76 players making up 19 teams in the tournament. The Kosciusko Open is held each year to benefit the Kosciusko Athletic Association.
